However, this place deserves recognition for serving some of the best pearls and jellies across Asia and various Chinatowns. The texture is consistently perfect—neither too soggy nor too hard, with just the right elasticity. Whether enjoying hot or cold desserts on multiple visits, the quality remains impressively high, and there’s not a single dessert we didn’t like. The variety caters to different preferences, offering sweet, traditional, “herbish,” hot, cold, and more. With such a range, there’s truly something for everyone!

Dessertstory, specializing in Taiwanese and Hong Kong delicacies, maintains its charm with a decor that hasn’t changed much in almost a decade. Despite the unchanged ambiance, customers don’t seem to mind, especially when indulging in delightful desserts. On a chilly day, the pork balls in hot soup with fresh coriander hit the spot. The fresh watermelon juice was a perfect follow-up. Located in the heart of Chinatown, Dessertstory is an ideal destination for post-dinner sweets.

Whenever we’re in town, a visit to this dessert shop is a must. Their signature jelly dessert is unparalleled, and my children can’t get enough of the strawberry snow ice dessert. The portions are generous, and the taste surpasses other dessert shops. Don’t miss out on their yummy snacks like Taiwanese fried chicken cutlet with noodles. It’s unfortunate that they closed outlets in Chadstone and Glen a couple of years back.
